About Us: Broken Saddle becomes Turquoise Hills Riding Co.

Location: Cerrillos, NM (25 minutes from Santa Fe on the famous Turquoise Trail scenic byway where countless movies have been filmed)

Address: 26 Vicskville Rd., Cerrillos, NM

We offer you the opportunity of an authentic Western guided horseback ride through history amidst the breathtaking natural scenery found in the serene hill and incredibly historic mining country of Cerillos.

We are the newly named Turquoise Hills Riding Co., continuing the proud legacy of the former Broken Saddle Riding Co. in the exact same location and with the same horses that have been riding those trails for years.

OUR GUIDES: Our guides are highly experienced in trail guiding, riding, horse-handling and instruction with over 20 years of experience. Our Head Wrangler/Ranch Manager is a bit famous in these parts, having a background in Western films & Performance you can ask him about! Our dedicated Guides are very committed to the safety, comfort and enjoyment of each and every rider.

WHAT MAKES OUR EXPERIENCE SO SPECIAL: What makes our riding experience so special is access to truly historic turquoise mining country where prehistoric Native, Spanish and Cowboy mining history converge. Turquoise Hill has America’s oldest Native mine from 900 A.D. Then there’s the serene and natural beauty plus spectacular hill and mountain views from our trails that will take your breath away. The turquoise stone resting in the crown of Spanish monarchy came from these same hills. We have a few local stones laced with the beautiful light Cerrillos turquoise you can take a photo of at our base camp.

CERRILLOS VILLAGE: Entering the village of Cerrillos feels like entering a Western movie set but it’s all real, mostly unchanged since the Wild West days, which has made Cerrillos a desired location for multiple movies or TV Shows. You can enjoy a meal, view some galleries or even feed a llama during your visit and photo ops abound. Madrid is also just 10 minutes away for shopping and dining during your visit to the area.

AUTHENTIC WESTERN AMBIANCE & NATURAL SCENERY: The history of this quiet & lovely valley is very real and stretches back to the first known Native mine in America from 900 A.D. The striking geology, outcroppings,

evergreen pinyon and distant mountains create a peaceful pallet that will get you back in touch with nature, assisted along by your new equine friend.
